goplaces — Claude Code skill: place search and setup
This skill runs goplaces to search Google Places, look up place details, and fetch reviews. Use it when an agent needs information about a place or area.
npx skills add openclaw/openclaw --skill goplaces -a claude-codeWhat goplaces does
goplaces is a CLI for the Google Places API (New). The skill lets an agent search by text, resolve a place from a name or address, and retrieve details or reviews. Use --json to send search results to scripts.
Install the CLI with brew install steipete/tap/goplaces and set GOOGLE_PLACES_API_KEY. Searches can be narrowed by rating, opening hours, or coordinates; pass --page-token to request another page. The --type filter sends only its first value because the API accepts one type.
Install this skill when you want an agent to query Google Places from the command line. Requests need an API key.
What it helps with
- find places from a text query
- filter open places by rating
- resolve a place from its name or address
- fetch details and reviews for a
place_id - send search results to a script as JSON
Example prompts for the agent
- Find open coffee shops with a rating of at least 4.
- Resolve “Soho, London” and show the matching places.
- Fetch details and reviews for this `place_id`.
