spotify-player — Claude skill: Spotify from the terminal
This skill lets your agent search and control Spotify playback from the terminal. Handy when you want to skip tracks without leaving the editor.
npx skills add openclaw/openclaw --skill spotify-player -a claude-codeWhat spotify-player does
The skill drives Spotify through two CLI tools: spogo (preferred) and spotify_player (fallback). Your agent runs their commands — spogo search track "query" to find something, spogo play|pause|next|prev to control playback, spogo device list and spogo device set "" to pick a speaker or phone, spogo status to check what is on. The fallback has its own set: spotify_player search, spotify_player playback play|pause|next|previous, spotify_player connect, spotify_player like.
Setup starts with cookies: spogo auth import --browser chrome. You need a Spotify Premium account, otherwise playback will not work. Config lives in ~/.config/spotify-player, for example app.toml, and Spotify Connect needs a user client_id set there.
Worth installing if you already run spogo or spotify_player and want to poke at music from the chat. No Premium or no interest in terminal players — skip it.
What it helps with
- search for a track by name and start it right away
- pause playback without opening the Spotify app
- move playback to another speaker or device
- check what is playing with one command
- like the current track
Example prompts for the agent
- pause playback and tell me what's playing
- find the track Midnight City and play it
- switch playback to the living room speaker
