Trade It — Claude Code MCP server: brokerage accounts in chat
Hooks brokerage accounts up to an AI assistant: balances, positions, order history, asset lookup, and trades staged for your review.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.tradeit.app/mcpWhat Trade It does
The server runs on Trade It's side, so nothing is hosted locally. Your assistant gets tools such as get_accounts, get_holdings, get_trades and search_assets, which expose linked accounts, cash, buying power and past orders, plus price data for a given ticker. The connection uses Streamable HTTP at https://mcp.tradeit.app/mcp. The older HTTP+SSE transport is gone; /sse survives only as an alias for the same address.
Installing the connection and authorizing an account are two different steps. In Claude, run /mcp and finish the browser OAuth flow when you hit a 401; Codex asks for authentication as a new session starts. Brokerages are linked inside your Trade It account, and a personal connection cannot reach anyone else's holdings.
The list of brokerages includes Charles Schwab, Coinbase, E*TRADE, Kraken, Moomoo, Public, Robinhood, Tastytrade, TradeStation and Webull. TradeStation Paper is there for simulated trading. With no API key or OAuth session, the server just returns an authorization error and reads nothing. The plugin also ships a workflow skill, so if you add the standalone skill through npx, keep one or the other to avoid duplicated guidance.
What it helps with
- read balances and positions across linked accounts
- check the status of recent orders
- look up a stock or crypto ticker with its price
- stage an order and review it before sending
- create a shareable Trade Link
Example prompts for the agent
- Show my connected accounts and what I hold in them
- What's the status of my latest orders?
- Draft an order for me to review before I place it

Questions about Trade It
How do I install Trade It in Claude Code?
Add the marketplace with /plugin marketplace add trade-it-inc/skills, then install the plugin using /plugin install trade-it@trade-it. Start a new session afterwards and authenticate through /mcp.
What does Trade It do?
It gives an assistant read access to brokerage data over a remote MCP server: accounts, positions, order history, asset search, and trades prepared for your approval.
Do I need a local server or Node.js?
Not for a direct remote connection: Trade It hosts the server, and adding https://mcp.tradeit.app/mcp over Streamable HTTP is enough. Node.js is only required for the optional standalone skill installer.
