search-console-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: setup
Connects Google Search Console to an MCP client for read-only search data and SEO analysis in chat. Use it to inspect traffic, indexing, and search queries.
claude mcp add search-console-mcp -- npx -y search-console-mcp-serverWhat search-console-mcp does
search-console-mcp runs locally with Node and connects Google Search Console to Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other MCP clients. After Google sign-in, the server can read properties, queries, clicks, impressions, CTR, positions, URL indexing status, and sitemaps.
It includes period comparisons and ten prepared SEO analyses covering traffic drops, cannibalization, internal links, indexing, and query opportunities. The server is read-only by design: the webmasters.readonly scope cannot change properties, submit sitemaps, or perform write operations.
You need npx and access to Google Search Console. A Google Cloud project and API keys are not required; tokens stay on the local machine under ~/.search-console-mcp/. Google sign-in is required before the server can read Search Console data.
What it helps with
- spot pages that lost clicks
- compare queries, impressions, and rankings
- check whether a URL is indexed
- find competing pages for one query
- plan internal links from existing data
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me the pages that lost the most clicks this month compared with the previous month.
- Find queries ranked from positions 8 to 15 with real impressions and rank the closest page-one opportunities.
- Check whether
https://mysite.com/pricingis indexed and explain the reason if it is not.
