Sourcey — Claude Code MCP server: startup credits and Agent Readiness
A hosted MCP server that finds startup credits and deals, shows the terms behind them, and serves Agent Readiness report cards.
claude mcp add --transport http sourcey https://mcp.sourcey.com/mcpWhat Sourcey does
Sourcey plugs into your agent as a remote server at https://mcp.sourcey.com/mcp. From there the agent searches current credits, discounts and free tiers for startups, lines offers up against each other, and reports where each term came from and when it was last checked. Agent Readiness cards are separate: visible grades, findings across five stages, blockers and fixes.
Clients that insist on a local command can use the thin bridge npx -y @sourcey/mcp-server. It ships no offer dataset and implements no tools itself. On start it talks to the live Sourcey server, pulls the tool definitions once, then forwards calls. Data changes therefore land without a new package release.
The Claude plugin talks only to the public HTTPS server and needs no local credential. Gemini CLI users can instead run gemini extensions install https://github.com/sourcey/mcp-server --ref main; drop --ref main and Gemini CLI falls back to the older v1.0.0 archive, which has no extension manifest. SOURCEY_MCP_URL points at a different HTTPS Sourcey endpoint. Plain HTTP is allowed for a loopback test server only, and URLs carrying credentials or fragments are rejected. No payment happens inside MCP.
What it helps with
- find live startup credits and discounts
- compare two offers by their recorded terms
- tell confirmed conditions from unverified ones
- read an Agent Readiness card and its blockers
- draft an Agent Readiness declaration in YAML without a grade
Example prompts for the agent
- Find current cloud-hosting startup offers in Sourcey. For three of them show the original source, the last-checked date and any eligibility unknowns.
- Pull up an Agent Readiness report card and walk me through the tested workflows, the blockers and the claims still unverified.

Questions about Sourcey
How do I install Sourcey in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http sourcey https://mcp.sourcey.com/mcp. That registers the remote MCP server in your Claude config.
What does Sourcey do?
It searches and compares startup credits, discounts and free tiers, with evidence and freshness attached. It also serves Agent Readiness report cards and helps prepare their YAML declarations.
Do I need the @sourcey/mcp-server bridge?
Only if your client requires a local command instead of a remote connection. The Claude plugin skips it and talks straight to the public HTTPS server.
