mcp-server · socialneuron — Claude Code MCP server for social media work
Social Neuron's MCP server hands your agent tools for content generation, post scheduling and social analytics. Useful if you publish without leaving the editor.
claude mcp add mcp-server -e SOCIALNEURON_API_KEY=<SOCIALNEURON_API_KEY> -- npx -y @socialneuron/mcp-serverWhat mcp-server does
The @socialneuron/mcp-server package runs a stdio server that exposes Social Neuron's toolset to an agent: video, image, voiceover and carousel generation, scheduling and rescheduling posts, per-platform analytics, comment handling, autopilot and a pre-publish quality check. Tools are grouped by job, from ideation and trends through to budget tracking and cleanup of scheduled items.
A Social Neuron Pro plan or higher is required before anything works — login fails without it. Authentication runs through npx -y @socialneuron/mcp-server login --device, which opens a browser and delivers the key back to the CLI once you approve. Credentials live in the OS keychain (macOS Keychain, Linux secret-tool); on Windows the file fallback at ~/.config/social-neuron/credentials.json gets no strong permission enforcement on NTFS, so treat that key carefully. The package targets Node 20.20+ and Node 22.22+.
The hosted service and the npm package are not the same build. Hosted runs its own 3.0.0 contract with 92 tools, adding get_account_status and the Content Calendar and Analytics Pulse MCP Apps. The npm build carries 91 tools and swaps the apps for two local screen-capture tools. Apps render only in hosts that support the MCP Apps extension; elsewhere the same data and writes go through ordinary tool calls.
What it helps with
- generate video, image and voiceover for a post
- schedule one post across several platforms
- pull analytics and find the best posting times
- build a weekly content plan and send it for approval
- reply to comments and remove unwanted ones
Example prompts for the agent
- Give me five post ideas about sustainable fashion and show trends in my niche
- Queue my latest video for YouTube and TikTok tomorrow at 9am
- Show my best-performing content this month and suggest improvements
