psquare — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
psquare lets an agent read ParentSquare feeds, calendars, messages, and roster data. It relies on saved session cookies rather than a public API.
claude mcp add psquare -- uvx parentsquare-mcpWhat psquare does
psquare exposes ParentSquare through MCP. The server can read school feeds and post details, calendar events, conversations, staff directories, files, photos, forms, polls, payments, groups, classes, and student dashboards. Attachments can be saved locally, while images and PDFs embedded in posts are returned as part of the post data.
Admin tools cover student and guardian rosters, classes, and staff. Creating or editing records, linking guardians, and sending invitations are disabled until PS_ENABLE_WRITES is set. Every write attempt is recorded in a local audit log, and the server does not delete records.
ParentSquare has no public API here, so psquare relies on saved session cookies and undocumented /api/v2/ JSON endpoints behind the web interface. Those endpoints can change or be blocked, and their use may conflict with ParentSquare terms. Without a valid saved session, the server cannot reach the account data.
What it helps with
- read school feed posts and their details
- turn calendar events into structured data
- look up conversations, staff, or groups
- download a ParentSquare attachment locally
- inspect student and guardian rosters
Example prompts for the agent
- Show the latest ParentSquare school posts and summarize their contents.
- Find this week’s ParentSquare calendar events and include their locations.
- List students without linked guardians so I can review the roster.
