Naumu — Claude Code MCP server: team knowledge graph

Wires your Naumu knowledge graph into an AI agent: notes, nodes, threads. Handy when you want to search the team's graph and write back to it mid-session.

What Naumu does

The server exposes Naumu spaces to your agent. Search across nodes blends meaning and text, filtering narrows by type and attributes, and a single node comes back with its edges, notes and threads attached. You can also put a question to @Naumu and get an answer grounded in nodes, with sources and a confidence value. Writing is covered too: nodes and edges in batches, swapping a parent edge, bulk edge removal in one atomic call.

The main route is remote over OAuth at https://naumu.ai/api/mcp. Your browser opens the first time a tool runs, and there is no key to create. The local npx route exists for clients without browser sign-in: CI jobs, bots, external agent identities. That one needs a key starting with nmu_, shown once at creation. Give each tool its own key, so a leak costs you one credential instead of everything.

Some tools register only for bot identity keys (nmu_bot_*), and that identity's permissions trim the list further. Deleting a node takes its connections with it, so check before calling naumu_remove_node. The NAUMU_API_URL variable is optional and defaults to https://naumu.ai.

What it helps with

  • find a node in the team graph by meaning, not exact wording
  • pull every node of one type with its attributes
  • read a node together with its edges and threads
  • create a batch of nodes and edges in one call
  • move a node under a new parent without editing edges by hand

Example prompts for the agent

  • Search Naumu for everything about client onboarding
  • Show me the space schema and list its node types
  • Create a node called Incident review and link it to the Payments node

Questions about Naumu

How do I install Naumu in Claude Code?

For the remote OAuth route, run claude mcp add --transport http naumu https://naumu.ai/api/mcp. The browser opens for sign-in the first time a tool is used.

What does Naumu do?

It gives an agent access to the Naumu knowledge graph: node search and filtering, reading edges and threads, writing nodes and edges, and asking @Naumu for node-grounded answers.

When do I need the local API key setup?

When your client cannot do browser OAuth: CI jobs, bots, external agent identities. The server runs through npx and needs an nmu_ key in NAUMU_API_KEY.
