Popdot AI is a subdomain rental marketplace aimed at AI agents. The server hands your agent tools for finding domains, checking whether one is taken, and asking for a price. Rentals run from an hour up to a month, paid per transaction in USDC on Base. Discovery needs no account.
Most tools work with zero setup: search_domains, get_price_quote, check_availability, try_domain, answer_trial_canary, upgrade_trial. Credentials matter only for rent_domain, which reads POPDOT_SIGIL_ID and POPDOT_PRIVATE_KEY — a base64 PKCS8 Ed25519 private key. upgrade_trial can mint them for you.
The popdot-mcp package is a stdio bridge for clients that cannot speak streamable HTTP. If yours can, point it at https://popdot.ai/api/mcp and skip npx entirely. Worth knowing: without a Sigil, rent_domain fails, and only the trial path gets you around that.
