mcp-unifi-applications — Claude Code MCP server: UniFi API docs
Gives your agent the UniFi API documentation: endpoint search, field schemas, code samples. No controller access, no credentials.
claude mcp add mcp-unifi-applications -- uvx mcp-unifi-applicationsWhat mcp-unifi-applications does
The server runs locally and answers questions about the APIs Ubiquiti publishes docs for: Network, Protect, Site Manager, InnerSpace, Mobility and Carrier Fabric. The documentation is already inside the package — a Playwright scraper turns the JS-rendered reference into structured JSON, and a Python MCP server serves it. Nothing to scrape on your side.
The tools are narrow. search_endpoints finds an endpoint from a description, get_endpoint returns the request body, and get_field_schema pulls out a single subtree — say, the DHCP configuration of a managed gateway — instead of the whole schema. get_example hands back a request in curl, Go, Node.js, Python or Ansible.
This is a knowledge plane, not a control plane. It never authenticates against your controller, never reads live state and never changes firewall rules. One practical catch: if the mcp-unifi-applications command is not on the client's PATH, pass the absolute path to the binary — Claude Desktop often does not inherit a shell PATH.
What it helps with
- find a UniFi API endpoint from a task description
- check which fields a request body accepts
- pull one subtree of a schema instead of the full JSON
- get a ready request sample in Go or Python
- check the API before buying hardware
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the UniFi endpoint for creating a network and show me the request body
- What options do I have for managed IPv4 DHCP configuration on the gateway?
- Give me a Go example for creating a network

Questions about mcp-unifi-applications
How do I install mcp-unifi-applications in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add mcp-unifi-applications -- uvx mcp-unifi-applications. The server then shows up in your client's MCP server list.
What does mcp-unifi-applications do?
It makes the UniFi API documentation queryable by an agent: endpoint search, schema drill-down and request samples in five languages.
How is it different from other UniFi MCP servers?
Most of them log into your controller and change live network state. This one only serves documentation and needs no credentials, so it works before you own any hardware.
