mcp-unblockpay — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
MCP server connecting AI assistants to UnblockPay. It handles cross-border rails, customer onboarding, stablecoin wallets, and currency conversions.
claude mcp add --env UNBLOCKPAY_API_KEY=<UNBLOCKPAY_API_KEY> --env UNBLOCKPAY_BASE_URL=<UNBLOCKPAY_BASE_URL> --transport stdio unblockpay -- npx -y @codespar/mcp-unblockpayWhat mcp-unblockpay does
This integration exposes 13 tools mirroring the UnblockPay v1 endpoints. Assistants can register customer profiles, trigger identity checks, and lock conversion rates. Quotes expire after five minutes. The API accepts an amount on either the sending or receiving side, never both. Without an approved KYC state, wallet creation fails outright.
For settlements, the server processes deposits into stablecoins and payouts back to fiat rails like Pix, SEPA, SPEI, or USD wire. Pay-in calls generate deposit instructions, including EMV strings for Brazilian Pix. Cancellation is restricted. You can abort a transaction only while it rests in the awaiting_deposit phase.
Authentication requires UNBLOCKPAY_API_KEY passed straight into request headers. To run test cycles, point UNBLOCKPAY_BASE_URL to https://api.sandbox.unblockpay.com/v1 with a sandbox key.
What it helps with
- register customer records and trigger identity verification checks
- lock exchange rates and processing fees prior to conversion
- generate deposit instructions for fiat-to-stablecoin onramps
- route payouts to external bank accounts through SEPA, SPEI, wire, or Pix
- inspect settlement statuses and cancel unpaid transfers
Example prompts for the agent
- Register a new corporate customer in UnblockPay with their incorporation date.
- Lock a quote to transfer 500 USD into stablecoins and show the quote ID.
- Check the current status of the specified transaction ID.
