mcp-sitecore-server — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connects an AI agent to Sitecore so it can read and change project data. Useful when you want the agent to work with Sitecore content and APIs directly.
claude mcp add mcp-sitecore-server -- npx -y @antonytm/mcp-sitecore-serverWhat mcp-sitecore-server does
The server gives an agent tools for finding and managing Sitecore items, handling media, logs and security, and using PowerShell or GraphQL. It also exposes task guides for composing a page, making bulk updates and diagnosing a connection.
It supports SitecoreAI and Sitecore XM/XP. Running it requires Node LTS, a Sitecore instance and credentials. Available tools depend on the APIs enabled on that instance. Without Sitecore PowerShell Extensions and its remoting service, roughly three quarters of the tools cannot run; account for that when configuring the connection.
You can narrow the tool set with TOOL_PROFILE, TOOL_GROUPS and DISABLED_TOOLS. Run the server through npm, Docker or from source. The Claude Code setup command uses npm.
What it helps with
- search Sitecore items by template
- create or edit Sitecore content through an agent
- apply changes to a batch of items
- inspect logs and diagnose a connection
- run a PowerShell script or GraphQL query
Example prompts for the agent
- Find Sitecore items that use this template and show me the matches.
- Update these Sitecore items using the values in this list.
- Check the Sitecore connection and identify where the error occurs.
