MCP FreeScout — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect an AI agent to FreeScout to inspect and classify tickets, update their status, and save reply drafts. Requires Node.js 24 or newer and FreeScout API access.
claude mcp add --env FREESCOUT_URL=<FREESCOUT_URL> --env FREESCOUT_API_KEY=<FREESCOUT_API_KEY> --env FREESCOUT_DEFAULT_USER_ID=<FREESCOUT_DEFAULT_USER_ID> --transport stdio mcp-freescout -- npx -y @verygoodplugins/mcp-freescoutWhat MCP FreeScout does
MCP FreeScout gives an agent tools to retrieve ticket details and conversation threads, classify an issue, and assess its likely cause. It can also add an internal note, change a ticket’s status or assignment, and save a reply draft. Markdown in the draft is converted to HTML for FreeScout.
The server runs over stdio and can be launched through npx. You’ll need Node.js 24 or newer, a FreeScout instance with API access enabled, its URL, and an API key. Without API access to the instance, the server cannot read or update tickets.
What it helps with
- classify a ticket and assess its likely cause
- retrieve a conversation by ticket ID, number, or URL
- leave an internal note for the team
- change a ticket’s status or assigned user
- save a reply draft in FreeScout
Example prompts for the agent
- Inspect FreeScout ticket 12345 and identify the issue type and likely cause.
- Add an internal note to ticket 12345 saying the customer confirmed the fix works.
- Draft a response for ticket 12345 and save it for review before sending.
