Porkbun (official) — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connects an AI agent to Porkbun tools for domain and DNS tasks. Use it to check domain availability or inspect DNS records.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://mcp.porkbun.com/mcpWhat Porkbun (official) does
The MCP server exposes Porkbun API tools to an agent. It can check a domain’s availability and price, list account domains, and retrieve DNS records or current nameservers. It can also scan a domain’s live DNS before a transfer; zone data does not move with the transfer.
Porkbun hosts an HTTP endpoint, and Claude Code can connect to it directly. There is also a local npx setup that uses an API key and secret key. The hosted connection requires signing in to Porkbun and approving access. Some tools can spend account funds: buy_closeout purchases a domain closeout, so review the agent’s request before allowing it.
What it helps with
- check a domain’s availability and registration price
- inspect DNS records before a domain transfer
- search for domains listed for sale
- check a Porkbun account balance
Example prompts for the agent
- Check whether
example.comis available and find its registration price. - Show the DNS records for
example.combefore I transfer it. - Search for domains for sale that match this name.
