HireLayer — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Parses CVs into structured data, extracts job requirements, and ranks candidates directly inside your coding assistant.
claude mcp add --transport http hirelayer https://hirelayer.co/mcpWhat HireLayer does
This server connects coding assistants to the HireLayer hiring platform. It extracts work history, contacts, education, and language proficiencies from resumes in PDF, Word, or image formats. Built-in OCR processes scanned documents. The tool also maps French and English technical skills to standardized taxonomy identifiers.
Job listings turn into weighted evaluation criteria with clear flags for mandatory items. The engine scores each applicant against the job on a scale from 0 to 1, providing explanations for individual criteria. It can sort up to 10 candidates in a single batch.
The hosted endpoint at https://hirelayer.co/mcp works with web attachments, text, or HTTPS links. Parsing files directly from a local hard drive requires the local npx setup with HIRELAYER_API_KEY. Accounts include 50 credits each month without a payment card.
What it helps with
- extract structured JSON records from PDF and image resumes
- derive weighted criteria from raw job descriptions
- score candidate qualifications against role specifications from 0 to 1
