Hexis — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects team skills, manuals, and workspace context to AI agents via Git. Manages role permissions and tracks prompt updates through approval flows.
claude mcp add --transport http hexis https://demo.bevel.software/api/mcpWhat Hexis does
Hexis acts as a central hub for agent skills, company context, and tooling definitions. It stores instructions directly as files inside a Git repository. Every update, rollback, and modification follows standard commit history, keeping an audit trail without extra databases.
Unlike read-only tool registries, this platform supports two-way edits. Teammates or running agents can submit suggestions when instructions break or need updates. On protected branches, repository owners must review and accept pull requests before changes go live. Running a self-hosted instance requires Docker with Compose alongside an empty Git repository.
Access control applies per user role. The model can only read files and run actions permitted to the person operating it. Sensitive credentials stay hidden from the model, and authentication happens via browser-based OAuth.
What it helps with
- store team prompts and tool guidelines in a shared Git repository
- restrict agent context based on individual teammate permissions
- submit pull requests for broken skills directly during task execution
- share company documentation across assistants without leaking secret keys
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch the approved deployment skill from Hexis and follow its checklist
- Propose a documentation fix to Hexis for the outdated API guide
- Load company context and guidelines available for my role
