mcp · gitscrum-core — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Bridges GitScrum workspaces with AI coding assistants. Helps manage sprints, log hours, track budgets, and issue client proposals in chat.
claude mcp add --env GITSCRUM_API_URL=<GITSCRUM_API_URL> --env GITSCRUM_TOKEN=<GITSCRUM_TOKEN> --transport stdio gitscrum-core-mcp -- npx -y @gitscrum-studio/mcp-serverWhat mcp does
This server connects assistants to GitScrum workspaces through 29 tools covering over 160 operations. The model can inspect project budgets, move tickets across sprints, and draft customer invoices directly in conversation. Instead of scattering separate definitions, each tool relies on a unified action parameter, reducing context token overhead by around 80%.
Running the server locally via npx requires Node.js 18+. There is also a hosted SSE alternative running on AWS at https://mcp.gitscrum.com/sse. Authentication uses browser-based OAuth 2.0 Device Authorization or an explicit GITSCRUM_TOKEN environment variable. Without a valid GitScrum account and token, the tools will not return data.
What it helps with
- schedule upcoming sprints and assign backlog tickets
- record spent project hours
- draft client proposals and issue invoices
- compile digests of completed work and blockers
Example prompts for the agent
- List all tickets assigned to me that are due today
- Set up a new sprint for next week and pull the top five backlog issues
- Draft a standup summary showing finished work and existing blockers this week
