Fjord — Claude Code MCP server: kanban, notes and Git
A local kanban board, markdown notes and Git work that your coding agent can reach. Everything sits in SQLite on your own machine.
Open on GitHubWhat Fjord does
Fjord is a desktop project manager that also ships a CLI and an MCP server. Running fjord mcp hands your agent 28 tools: it can add, edit, move and archive tasks, yet hard deletion stays out of reach. Every edit carries its author, so the activity log shows whether a change came from you or from the agent.
Projects, boards, attachments and Obsidian-style notes share one SQLite file. Notes link to each other and to tasks with [[Project]] or [[#12]], and backlinks show where something was mentioned. Changes made through the CLI or by an agent land in the open app within a second or two. Search covers tasks, notes and file names. Git, GitHub and Azure DevOps are wired in too: a branch can start from a task, and a merged pull request moves that task to done.
Windows and macOS builds are compiled from the same source as the Linux one and run through CI on each pull request. Still, Linux is where Fjord gets developed and used daily, which matters if your machine runs something else. The project is at early preview, and a few Overview sections such as standup and Waiting on you stay off until you switch them on in Settings.
What it helps with
- start a branch with a sensible name from a task
- keep project notes together with links between them
- see which pull requests are waiting on your review
- park a task until a client replies and track how long it waits
- pull Azure Boards work items in with their subtasks
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me what's due this week in the Fjord project
- Add a task called Fix login to the In progress column
- Create a branch for task 12

Questions about Fjord
How do I install Fjord in Claude Code?
There is no install command for Claude. Download the build for your system from the jhtjernsmo/fjord Releases page, install the app, then connect its MCP server with fjord mcp.
What does Fjord do?
It manages projects, kanban boards, notes and attachments locally, and ties them to Git. The MCP server exposes the same data to your agent, so both of you work on the same tasks.
Where does Fjord keep its data?
In a single SQLite file on your machine. No account and no cloud.
