Funplay Unity MCP — Claude Code MCP server
Connects an AI assistant to a running Unity Editor so it can build scenes, write scripts, and test gameplay. Useful for turning a short game brief into a working project.
Open on GitHubWhat Funplay Unity MCP does
Funplay Unity MCP connects an AI assistant to an open Unity project through MCP. The assistant can build scenes, create C# scripts, arrange UI, run checks during play, simulate input, and operate editor tasks. It targets Unity 2022.3+ and runs in the Editor rather than in a built game.
Install the package in Unity through Package Manager using the Git URL, then open Funplay > MCP Server. Its One-Click MCP Configuration can write a client entry for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and other supported clients. The server exposes a local address such as http://127.0.0.1:<port>/, with project-specific ports available when several editors are open.
Direct local HTTP is the default transport. Experimental Broker Mode keeps the MCP endpoint stable through Unity script recompiles and Play Mode domain reloads. The client cannot connect until Funplay > MCP Server is running.
What it helps with
- build a Unity scene from a written game brief
- generate C# scripts and wire up game logic
- place UI elements in the editor
- run gameplay checks while the scene is active
- simulate controls during a test session
Example prompts for the agent
- Create a snake scene in the open Unity project with a 10x10 grid, food, score display, and a game-over screen.
- Write the scripts for this scene and connect the required Unity objects.
- Run the scene, test its controls, and fix the issues you find.
