Bambu Printer MCP — Claude Code MCP server: guide and setup
Controls Bambu Lab 3D printers over your local network, slices models, and monitors jobs without vendor cloud lock-in. Useful for automated print workflows.
Open on GitHubWhat Bambu Printer MCP does
This server focuses strictly on Bambu Lab hardware, omitting legacy code for Klipper, OctoPrint, and other printer platforms. It connects directly to your machine across the local network using PRINTER_HOST, the hardware serial, and your local BAMBU_TOKEN. When paired with FULU OrcaSlicer-bambulab, you can prepare build plates and run jobs without Bambu Studio or external cloud services.
Your agent can check temperatures, retrieve webcam frames, pause print runs, or discard a single failed part on the print bed. Command-line slicing requires package version 1.1.11 or higher alongside matching printer profile trees. Slicing software is optional if you already have an exported 3MF file ready to print.
Running native print jobs on X2D machines requires macOS or x86-64 Linux plus a locally compiled helper program.
What it helps with
- Send pre-sliced 3MF files directly to the printer over LAN
- Check print progress and pull snapshots from the chamber camera
- Pause active jobs or drop a detached part from the build plate
- Select loaded materials from the AMS filament slots before printing
Example prompts for the agent
- Show me a snapshot from the chamber camera and report remaining print time.
- One corner lifted and the part detached. Skip that object and keep printing.
- Send the prepared
bracket.3mffile to the printer at192.168.1.50.

Questions about Bambu Printer MCP
How to install Bambu Printer MCP in Claude Code?
Run the server via stdio using npx -y bambu-printer-mcp on Node.js 24. Configure your printer credentials locally by setting PRINTER_HOST, BAMBU_MODEL, BAMBU_SERIAL, and the LAN access code in BAMBU_TOKEN.
What does Bambu Printer MCP do?
It provides tools for an AI agent to operate Bambu Lab printers directly across a local network. It covers telemetry, AMS filament selection, slicing workflows, and live job controls without Bambu Cloud.
Is a slicer required to send print jobs?
No slicer is needed to send a pre-sliced 3MF file. If you want the agent to auto-slice meshes from the terminal, install FULU OrcaSlicer and ensure you run MCP version 1.1.11 or later with its profile tree.
