FATSEARCH — Claude Code MCP server: web reading
FATSEARCH lets an agent read JavaScript-heavy pages and PDFs as compact Markdown. Use it when a built-in fetch misses a page or sends too much of it into context.
Open on GitHubWhat FATSEARCH does
The server tries a plain HTTP request first. If a page relies on JavaScript or blocks access, FATSEARCH can turn to a configured provider. It saves cleaned Markdown on disk, so an agent can inspect the outline and request a relevant section instead of loading the entire page.
A provider key is optional for pages available over plain HTTP. Web search and provider-based rendering require an Oxylabs or Bright Data key; Decodo is also listed for rendering and unblocking pages. Add a key with fats setup, then connect the server to Claude Code using claude mcp add --scope user fats -- fats mcp. Without a key, requests are limited to what plain HTTP can retrieve.
What it helps with
- read pages that an agent's built-in fetch cannot retrieve
- extract text from PDFs and JavaScript-driven pages
- send a relevant page section to the model instead of the full page
- search the web through a configured provider
Example prompts for the agent
- Find information about Rust on web pages and summarize the relevant section.
- Read this PDF and locate its licensing details.
- Retrieve this page with FATSEARCH and explain its main points.
