Context Awesome — Claude Code MCP server: use and install
This MCP server lets an agent search curated collections of tools, libraries, and resources. Use it when a task needs references or focused research.
claude mcp add --transport http context-awesome https://www.context-awesome.com/api/mcpWhat Context Awesome does
Context Awesome gives an agent access to curated awesome lists and the entries inside them. It can locate relevant categories, then return tools, libraries, and other resources for a topic. The project describes coverage of more than 8500 lists and over 1mn+ listed rows.
The server exposes three operations: find_awesome_section discovers matching categories, search_awesome_items searches individual entries, and get_awesome_items retrieves entries from a known list and section. The npm package context-awesome offers the same actions through the sections, search, and items CLI commands.
MCP clients can use the hosted endpoint at https://www.context-awesome.com/api/mcp; a local setup runs through npx context-awesome-mcp. Both interfaces use the same backend, so switching to the CLI does not create a separate local collection.
What it helps with
- find relevant sections across awesome lists
- search for tools and libraries by topic
- gather learning resources for a subject
- retrieve entries from a known list
- research options for a technical task
Example prompts for the agent
- Find awesome-list sections related to graph databases.
- Search for libraries and tools that handle PostgreSQL rate limiting.
- Gather resources about vector databases and return the most relevant entries.
