Zikkaron — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup

Zikkaron stores project context between sessions so an agent can retrieve past decisions. It fits workflows where you want Claude Code to pick up earlier work without a fresh explanation.

What Zikkaron does

Zikkaron keeps project memories in SQLite and exposes MCP tools to save and retrieve them. An agent can store a decision after a task, then look up project context in a later session. The server includes 24 MCP tools, runs locally, and uses a 22 MB embedding model.

Add it to Claude Code with claude mcp add zikkaron -- uvx zikkaron. The setup guide also describes syncing instructions into ~/.claude/CLAUDE.md at startup. For automatic recall and storage, the agent needs to call the memory tools at the start of a session and after significant work.

What it helps with

  • carry architecture decisions across sessions
  • retrieve project context at startup
  • look up details from earlier debugging
  • save outcomes after completing a task

Example prompts for the agent

  • Remember that this project uses Postgres instead of SQLite.
  • Recall what we decided about this project's structure.
  • Get the project context before changing the authentication flow.
