Common Elements — Claude Code MCP server: association records and RFPs
Connects your agent to public records on community associations, US statutes, contractor licenses and an RFP hub. A Common Elements account is required.
claude mcp add --transport http data https://commonelements.com/api/mcpWhat Common Elements does
The server speaks HTTP and authenticates with OAuth or an API key. Ask it about HOA, condo and co-op associations pulled from state registries, check whether a contractor holds a valid license, or pull the text of a statute section. Full-text search across sections is there too, along with a compliance scan of whatever text you hand over for that purpose.
Bundled skills cover the usual jobs: research an association, find vendors, run an RFP, look up a statute, follow board and management changes. Free access returns public-record basics only. Management details, officers, the change feed, building safety and hazard risk sit behind the paid Data plan, and coverage differs from state to state and county to county.
Contact details for individuals never come back from the server. Board and officer data arrives as names and titles taken from public records. Requested account content is stored and usage logs are kept for as long as the account stays open. Treat the output as reference material, not legal advice. Common Elements sits alongside the management and accounting software an association already runs; it does not replace it.
What it helps with
- look up an HOA or condo association in a state registry
- verify a contractor license before hiring
- post an RFP and review the proposals that come back
- pull the text of a statute section
- track board or management turnover
Example prompts for the agent
- Find the association at this address and tell me who manages it
- Check this contractor's license against state records
- Look up the statute section on reserve funds and quote it
