atest-mcp-server — Claude Code MCP server: run atest API tests
Wires your coding agent to atest so API tests can be run and inspected from the chat. Useful when your test suite already lives in atest.
claude mcp add atest-mcp-server -- npx -y atest-mcp-server-launcherWhat atest-mcp-server does
This MCP server sits between an AI agent and atest, the API testing tool. The agent talks to it over MCP and drives tests through the atest gRPC port.
Three ways to start it: the atest-store-mcp binary, a Docker container, or npx atest-mcp-server-launcher@latest. Transport is picked with --mode, either sse or stdio. In an MCP config, streamableHttp points at a baseUrl such as http://localhost:7845; the stdio entry runs atest-store-mcp with server, -m=stdio and a runner address.
Nothing works until an atest runner is listening on 127.0.0.1:64385 — that address goes into --runner-address, so swap in your own. Building the binary takes make build; packing a .dxt file needs @anthropic-ai/dxt installed globally.
What it helps with
- run atest API tests without leaving the agent chat
- hook atest up to an agent over stdio or streamableHttp
- start the server in Docker next to the runner
- pack a
.dxtbundle for the server - switch transport with the
--modeflag
Example prompts for the agent
- Run the atest API tests and show me what failed
- Start atest-mcp-server in stdio mode against the runner on
localhost:64385 - Execute the atest suite and walk me through the failing responses

Questions about atest-mcp-server
How do I install atest-mcp-server in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add atest-mcp-server -- npx -y atest-mcp-server-launcher. Have an atest runner up first, or the server has nothing to connect to.
What does atest-mcp-server do?
It is the MCP server for atest. Your agent gets access to API tests: starting runs, reading results, digging into failures, all over the runner's gRPC port.
Which modes does it support?
Two: sse and stdio. Set one with --mode, for example --mode=stdio; a stdio MCP entry uses the atest-store-mcp command with server and -m=stdio arguments.
