mobile-mcp — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Connects iOS and Android devices to your AI agent. Useful for automating app testing, reading UI elements, and running user flows without native framework scripts.
claude mcp add mobile-mcp -- npx -y @mobilenext/mobile-mcpWhat mobile-mcp does
This server translates agent commands into mobile actions across iOS and Android targets. It inspects interfaces via the native accessibility tree, keeping token costs down because vision models are not queried on every step. When an interface requires visual verification, the server falls back to coordinate taps from screenshots.
The toolset covers installing .apk or .ipa packages, launching applications, simulating gestures, changing device orientation, and spoofing GPS coordinates. It works with local simulators, physical USB-connected phones, and cloud instances.
Local execution depends on native tooling. For iOS simulators, you need Xcode with xcrun simctl. Android targets require the Android SDK and adb. Without these tools, local automation will not start.
What it helps with
- automate native app test flows across iOS and Android
- install and launch
.apkor.ipabuilds directly from the agent - extract UI elements and coordinates via native accessibility trees
- simulate device orientation shifts and GPS location overrides
Example prompts for the agent
- Check available mobile devices and launch our app on the active Android emulator.
- Inspect the current screen elements and tap the login button.
- Install the latest build from the
.apkfile and capture a screenshot.
