amCharts 5 — Claude Code MCP server: chart docs on demand
Gives your agent on-demand access to amCharts 5 docs, code samples and API reference. Useful when you need a chart built without guessing.
claude mcp add --transport http amcharts5 https://mcp.amcharts.com/mcpWhat amCharts 5 does
The server hands your assistant the amCharts 5 reference on request: chart type docs, working examples, documentation pages and class APIs. Rather than stuffing the whole reference into the context window, the agent pulls only the piece it needs — a chart type, a starter template, or a class lookup.
A set of tools covers the ground. get_quick_start returns a minimal template for a chart type, get_chart_reference gives the full reference for one type, search_all searches docs and examples together, and get_api_reference shows a class's settings with their defaults, its events and the import line. There is also list_geodata for finding map files — world, continents, countries, regional packs — with each file's CDN path and import options.
Two ways to connect. The hosted server needs just one URL, https://mcp.amcharts.com/mcp, and nothing installed. The local option runs through npx -y @amcharts/amcharts5-mcp over stdio. Clients that only speak local servers reach the hosted one through the npx mcp-remote https://mcp.amcharts.com/mcp bridge.
What it helps with
- build a pie chart from a starter template
- find the Sankey diagram example code
- check XYChart settings and their defaults
- pick a map file for a specific region
- work out date axis label formatting
Example prompts for the agent
- Build a pie chart with amCharts 5 using the quick start template
- Show me the full code for the Sankey diagram example
- What settings does XYChart support and what are their defaults?
