Scandit — MCP server for Claude Code: barcode and document scanning
The Scandit MCP server connects your agent to the SDK for capturing barcodes, QR codes, and documents. Use it when you're adding scanning to a mobile or web app and want the agent to write the integration instead of reading the SDK docs.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://ssl.scandit.com/mcpWhat Scandit does
This server bridges your agent to Scandit Data Capture SDK — a toolkit for barcode, QR code, text and document capture. You describe what you need in chat, and the agent picks the right module (SparkScan for fast capture, BarcodeCapture for single-barcode, MatrixScan AR for bulk scanning) and writes the integration code for your platform.
Inside are 86 ready-made skills covering Android, iOS, web, React Native, Flutter, and Kotlin Multiplatform. Each skill bundles integration patterns, permissions setup, license-key wiring, UI customization, and migration guidance between SDK versions. The MCP server auto-provisions trial keys and writes them into your code — no manual account setup needed.
License keys are written as literals in source code, so keep non-trial keys out of version control. If you don't connect the MCP server, the agent will direct you to the web dashboard at https://ssl.scandit.com to get a key by hand.
What it helps with
- add a barcode scanner to a mobile app without redesigning the UI
- embed QR code recognition into a web form
- upgrade the scanning SDK or switch to a different capture mode
- replace a third-party scanner with Scandit
- set up real-time document recognition across multiple scans
Example prompts for the agent
- Which Scandit product should I use to scan pallets in a warehouse app?
- Add barcode capture to React Native so the user can tap or aim with the camera
- Migrate from BarcodeTracking to BarcodeBatch and update the SDK from version 7 to 8

Questions about Scandit
How do I install Scandit in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http scandit https://ssl.scandit.com/mcp in your terminal. This connects the MCP server, from which the agent fetches trial license keys.
What does Scandit do?
It connects your agent to a barcode, QR code, and document capture SDK. The agent chooses the right module (SparkScan, BarcodeCapture, MatrixScan, etc.) based on your task and platform, then generates the integration code.
Do I need to sign up for a Scandit account to use the MCP server?
The agent will prompt you to log in via browser on first use to get a trial key. Since the MCP server uses browser auth, it won't work headless or in CI/CD — in those cases, grab a key manually from https://ssl.scandit.com.
