Acquisition.gov — Claude Code MCP server: FAR reference
Hands the agent the post-overhaul FAR text, agency deviations, PDFs and guidance. Useful when you need the exact wording from a contracting document.
claude mcp add --transport http acquisition-gov-mcp https://acquisition-gov.1102tools.com/mcpWhat Acquisition.gov does
The server exposes five tools over Acquisition.gov: parts of the overhauled FAR model, per-agency deviations, PDF files and related guidance. The agent calls them instead of recalling a clause from memory.
Two connection options exist. Point it at https://acquisition-gov.1102tools.com/mcp over HTTP, or run uvx acquisition-gov-mcp locally. The local route keeps lookups on your machine and needs uv installed.
Know which edition your project follows. If agency-edited text governs, a query against the base model may return the wrong wording, so check the deviations alongside the base part.
What it helps with
- look up a FAR part after the overhaul
- check a clause against one agency's deviations
- pull text out of an Acquisition.gov PDF
- load a contracting guidance doc into the agent context
Example prompts for the agent
- Quote what the overhauled FAR model says about this clause
- Find DOD deviations from the base FAR part for this section
- Pull the Acquisition.gov PDF and quote the relevant paragraph

Questions about Acquisition.gov
How to install Acquisition.gov in Claude Code?
Add the remote server with claude mcp add --transport http acquisition-gov-mcp https://acquisition-gov.1102tools.com/mcp. For the local variant run claude mcp add acquisition-gov-mcp -- uvx acquisition-gov-mcp.
What does Acquisition.gov do?
It gives the agent five tools covering overhauled FAR model parts, agency deviations, PDFs and guidance. The agent queries those documents rather than paraphrasing regulations from memory.
Can I avoid the remote endpoint?
Yes. The local option starts the server with uvx acquisition-gov-mcp, and no requests leave your machine. It requires uv.
