USASpending.gov — MCP server for Claude Code: federal spending data
An MCP server that gives your agent USAspending.gov data: contracts, grants, loans, subawards, recipients, agencies and federal accounts.
claude mcp add --transport http usaspending-gov-mcp https://usaspending.1102tools.com/mcpWhat USASpending.gov does
The server connects to USAspending.gov and hands the agent what you would otherwise dig out of the site by hand: contracts, grants, loans, subawards, recipients, agencies and federal accounts. Ask Claude about a contractor or an agency and it pulls the answer from there instead of guessing.
There are two ways in. The remote HTTP endpoint is https://usaspending.1102tools.com/mcp. The local route runs uvx usaspending-gov-mcp, which fetches and starts the package on your own machine. That second option needs uv/uvx on your PATH; without it the command goes nowhere.
MIT licensed, built by 1102tools-dev, repo 1102tools-dev/federal-contracting-mcps. Supported clients include Claude, Claude, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, Cline, Zed and Gemini CLI. If federal procurement data is part of your work, this saves you the manual export dance.
What it helps with
- pull contracts for a specific vendor
- tally grants and loans by agency
- check who received federal money
- trace subawards under a contract
- list federal accounts
Example prompts for the agent
- Find all contracts for this company on USAspending from last year
- Show me grants and loans from the Department of Energy
- Who received subawards under this contract?
