recipe-create-vacation-responder — Claude Code skill: what it does
Enables a Gmail out-of-office reply with a custom message and date range. Use it when an agent needs to manage the responder through Google Workspace CLI.
npx skills add googleworkspace/cli --skill recipe-create-vacation-responder -a claude-codeWhat recipe-create-vacation-responder does
This skill enables a Gmail vacation responder with a custom subject, message, and response restrictions. It also checks the current settings and provides a command to turn the responder off when you return.
The recipe uses gws gmail users settings updateVacation and gws gmail users settings getVacation. It requires the gws binary and the gws-gmail skill, with settings passed as JSON.
Install it when an agent needs to manage Gmail auto-replies through Google Workspace CLI. It is unnecessary for configuring the responder manually in Gmail without gws.
What it helps with
- enable a Gmail out-of-office reply
- set the vacation message and response subject
- verify the current responder settings
- turn off the auto-reply after returning
Example prompts for the agent
- Enable my Gmail vacation responder with this message and the requested access settings.
- Verify the responder with `gws gmail users settings getVacation --params '{"userId": "me"}'`.
- Disable it with `gws gmail users settings updateVacation --params '{"userId": "me"}' --json '{"enableAutoReply": false}'`.
