zeta-chain-cli — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Enables AI assistants to interact with ZetaChain universal apps, query balances, and trigger cross-chain calls across EVM, Solana, Bitcoin, Sui, and TON.
claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://server.smithery.ai/@zeta-chain/cli/mcpWhat zeta-chain-cli does
The server exposes the ZetaChain command-line tool directly to AI coding agents. Through this interface, an assistant can scaffold universal applications from templates, check fees, inspect deployed contracts, and transfer supported tokens between connected networks.
Running the tool locally requires Node.js 18 or newer. Git is also required. Starting the multi-chain localnet setup additionally demands Docker 24 or higher.
The remote Smithery deployment cannot reach local files, keys, or localnet. Developers who need local network simulation or account access must install the package directly through npm.
What it helps with
- Query token balances and transfer fees across EVM, Solana, and Bitcoin
- Scaffold ZetaChain universal application projects from starter templates
- Spin up a local multi-chain network for cross-chain contract testing
- Trigger cross-chain transactions between Sui, TON, and ZetaChain apps
Example prompts for the agent
- Run
zetachain query balancesto check connected wallet assets - Initialize a new ZetaChain universal app project from a template
- Start the multi-chain test network using
zetachain localnet start

Questions about zeta-chain-cli
How to install zeta-chain-cli in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http mcp https://server.smithery.ai/@zeta-chain/cli/mcp. Restart the assistant editor afterward to load the tools.
What does the zeta-chain-cli MCP server do?
It lets coding assistants execute ZetaChain CLI operations to inspect contracts, track transactions, and manage cross-chain calls across connected blockchains.
Why use the local CLI installation instead of Smithery?
The hosted Smithery server cannot interact with your local files, private accounts, or localnet. Local installation via npm is necessary if you need access to your local development environment.
