Yandex Search MCP — Claude Code MCP server: search and install
This MCP server connects an AI client to Yandex Search API and returns structured web results. Use it when an agent needs ranked pages, snippets, and URLs.
claude mcp add yandex-search-mcp -e YANDEX_SEARCH_API_KEY=<YANDEX_SEARCH_API_KEY> -e YANDEX_FOLDER_ID=<YANDEX_FOLDER_ID> -- npx -y @stufently/yandex-search-mcpWhat Yandex Search MCP does
Yandex Search MCP sends queries to Yandex Search API v2 and exposes ranked results with positions, titles, URLs, domains, snippets, passages, language, and cache links. A request can set maxResults from 1 to 100, choose a region or page, and apply a family-search mode.
The server reads YANDEX_SEARCH_API_KEY and YANDEX_FOLDER_ID. Cyrillic queries use the Russian index, while Latin-only queries use the international index. It retries requests after 429 and 5xx responses with exponential backoff. The server will not start without the API key and folder ID.
What it helps with
- search the web from an AI client
- return ranked pages with snippets
- limit results by region or page
- apply a family-search setting
Example prompts for the agent
- Search the web for
react-querydocumentation and return result titles, URLs, and short passages. - Use a Russian query to find pages explaining how to set
YANDEX_FOLDER_ID. - Run the search with
maxResultsset to 20 andFAMILY_MODE_STRICTenabled.
