Yandex Wordstat MCP — Claude Code MCP server: keyword research
Hooks Yandex Wordstat into your coding agent: query volume, demand trends and regional search data for Russian and CIS markets.
claude mcp add yandex-wordstat-mcp -e WORDSTAT_API_KEY=<WORDSTAT_API_KEY> -e WORDSTAT_FOLDER_ID=<WORDSTAT_FOLDER_ID> -- npx -y @stufently/yandex-wordstat-mcpWhat Yandex Wordstat MCP does
The server talks to Yandex Cloud Search API v2 and authenticates with a service account API key. Yandex shut down the old api.wordstat.yandex.net endpoint in 2026, so an OAuth token is no longer an option. Tool names and their parameters stayed the same.
Five tools ship with it. top-requests returns popular queries containing your keyword for the last 30 days along with related phrases; dynamics charts volume by day, week or month; regions breaks interest down by region and adds an affinity index. The region tree is pulled once per session and cached, and get-region-children answers straight from that cache without an API call. A sliding-window limit of 10 requests per second queues anything above it, while 429 and 5xx replies are retried with exponential backoff.
Two environment variables are required: WORDSTAT_API_KEY and WORDSTAT_FOLDER_ID. You get the key in the Yandex Cloud console from a service account holding the search-api.webSearch.user role and the yc.search-api.execute scope; a billing account has to be linked to the cloud. No key means the server will not start. Date handling in dynamics is the fiddly part: daily needs a start date inside the last 60 days, weekly a Monday, monthly the first of a month. Out-of-range dates are not rejected — they get snapped to the nearest valid window, and every shift shows up in adjustments.
What it helps with
- build a Russian-language keyword list for a site
- see how demand for a product moved over the year
- find which regions search a term most often
- pull related queries around a single phrase
- compare volume across desktop, phone and tablet
Example prompts for the agent
- Show the top 100 queries containing "flower delivery" for the last 30 days
- Chart monthly demand for "electric scooter" over the past year
- Break down interest in "apartment renovation" by region with the affinity index
