x402 economy tools — Claude Code MCP server: x402 data
Feeds your agent measured x402 ecosystem data: which endpoints actually take payment and where the money goes. Useful if you pay per call or sell them.
claude mcp add --transport http x402-tools https://multichain-rpc.clankerceo.workers.dev/mcpWhat x402 economy tools does
The server runs at https://multichain-rpc.clankerceo.workers.dev/mcp and exposes 6 tools. Five are free and need no API key; the sixth settles per call through x402. The numbers come from paying merchants in USDC, not from checking whether an endpoint answers with HTTP 402. Those questions diverge sharply.
A blind GET sweep found 1 payable endpoint out of 60. Calling each one the way its own declared method and queryParams say to gave 8 out of 60. Half of the working ones accept POST only, so a GET-based sweep never sees them. Another 66.7% of live endpoints return an empty {} body and keep the payment challenge solely in the base64 payment-required header; parsers that read the body first undercount by roughly two thirds. There is a counting trap too: payto_tx_30d in registry exports is a wallet-level number repeated on every resource that shares a payTo, so aggregate only after deduplicating on payment.pay_to.
Some practical snags are documented as well. An x402 v2 payload needs an accepted field naming the offer the buyer picked; leave it out and CDP answers x402V2PaymentPayload requires accepted while sellers answer verification_failed. On the selling side, treat accepted as untrusted, because a buyer can echo a cheaper offer than the route being called.
What it helps with
- check whether an endpoint will take payment before sending one
- find x402 merchants that actually settle
- total revenue per wallet without double counting
- parse the payment challenge from the header instead of the body
- test an MCP server's error handling and real-client behaviour
Example prompts for the agent
- Run preflight on this endpoint and tell me if it will take my money
- List x402 merchants with confirmed settlement and their price per call
- Check this MCP server for protocol errors and real-client behaviour

Questions about x402 economy tools
How do I install x402 economy tools in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http x402-tools https://multichain-rpc.clankerceo.workers.dev/mcp.
What does x402 economy tools do?
It hands your agent measured x402 ecosystem data and live endpoint checks: which addresses take payment, how their challenges are shaped, and how transactions spread across wallets.
Do I need an API key?
No. Five of the six tools are free and keyless; the sixth settles per call via x402.
