What Vibe Test — Browser Testing Agent does

The server equips AI editors with 14 Playwright actions designed for browser automation. Instead of operating blindly, it parses local application files to identify authentic endpoints, form selectors, and handlers. You avoid drafting static test scripts by hand.

Test runs write snapshots to .vibe/run-snapshot.json and keep track of application URLs in .vibe/route-manifest.json. Comparing snapshots alerts the agent to fresh regressions, repaired pages, or route alterations after every commit. Pass and fail decisions rely on deterministic checks like URL switches, toaster popups, and failed network calls, avoiding extra token costs.

Running this MCP server requires Node.js 20 or newer, alongside the Playwright Chromium build installed via setup.

What it helps with

  • run automated browser interactions through 14 Playwright tools
  • detect regressions and fixed pages across consecutive testing runs
  • extract real routes and input selectors from repository source files
  • generate visual HTML inspection reports with step-by-step screenshots

Example prompts for the agent

  • Scan this codebase and test the login flow on http://localhost:3000.
  • Check what broke in the checkout sequence after the latest commit.
  • Explore the admin routes and generate an HTML report with screenshots.
