Typebar (formerly SuperDocs) MCP Server — Claude Code Guide
Connects Claude Code to a document engine for section-level edits in files over 100 pages, multi-file sessions, and clean docx or PDF exports.
claude mcp add --transport http superdocs https://api.superdocs.app/mcp/What Typebar (formerly SuperDocs) does
Instead of rewriting an entire file on every turn, this server targets specific sections in large documents over 100 pages. Editing only the modified section cuts token usage by roughly 97% compared to resending full documents. It handles multi-document sessions, preserves formatting, and exports into .docx, PDF, HTML, or Markdown.
The bundle brings 38 MCP tools covering session histories, durable file storage, file uploads, templates, diagrams, and cross-session memory. It also features four built-in workflows for outlining, contract review, format conversion, and docx styling. Autonomous agents can self-register and obtain an API key instantly using POST https://api.superdocs.app/v1/agents/signup.
You must obtain an API key from use.typebar.ai before sending requests; the free tier provides 500 AI operations each month. Clients such as Windsurf and Cline can only use the tool calls, as they do not expose prompts.
What it helps with
- modify single sections inside 100+ page documents without full rewrites
- export structured text into styled
.docx, PDF, or Markdown formats - manage multi-document editing sessions across separate tabs
- analyze contracts for potential risks with a ready-made workflow prompt
Example prompts for the agent
- Load
/path/to/contract.docxinto Typebar as the active editable document - Draft a structured document from my notes using
/superdocs:draft_from_outline - Export the current document as
.docxand generate a download link
