What Bible by Midvash does

This server connects your client to 117 open Bible editions across 69 languages. The model can fetch single verses, pull whole chapters, or compare wording across different translations. Searches run on an FTS5 index ranked by BM25, matching Hebrew and Arabic queries typed without vowel marks.

The system runs on Cloudflare Workers. Chapter files stream from an R2 bucket, while search queries run against an isolated D1 database. Aside from the biblical text, the endpoint provides Strong's lexicon lookups and commentaries for 1,189 chapters. Prompts for sermon prep, devotions, and word studies are also built in.

Setup requires no account. Public traffic is rate-limited to 60 tool calls per minute from any single IP address. Repeating a tool call costs nothing against rate limits because edge nodes cache responses for 24 hours.

What it helps with

  • Look up scripture using natural citations like "John 3:16-18".
  • Compare passage phrasing across different translations side by side.
  • Check original words and definitions using Strong's lexicon entries.
  • Pull chapter-level commentaries for historical context.

Example prompts for the agent
