mcp-server · tooltrace-io — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
Connect an AI agent to web-page extraction, SEO checks, technology detection, and sitemap inspection. Works with Claude Code and other MCP clients.
claude mcp add mcp-server -e TOOLTRACE_API_KEY=<TOOLTRACE_API_KEY> -- npx -y @tooltrace/mcp-serverWhat mcp-server does
ToolTrace’s MCP server gives an agent access to page content in Markdown, metadata, links, and JSON-LD data. It can also run on-page SEO checks, identify a site’s technology stack, and parse XML sitemaps. The server uses the ToolTrace API for these tasks.
Choose an HTTP connection or run the server locally over stdio. Both options expose the same tools and use credits at the same rates. Local setup requires a ToolTrace API key in TOOLTRACE_API_KEY; without it, the server cannot call the API. The free plan includes 1,000 credits per month. For JavaScript-heavy pages, always triggers browser rendering and costs 5 credits.
What it helps with
- extract a web page as Markdown
- run an SEO audit on a landing page
- identify a site's technologies
- collect links from a documentation page
- inspect a site's XML sitemap
Example prompts for the agent
- Pull the main content from this page and return it as Markdown.
- Audit this landing page for on-page SEO issues.
- Inspect this site's sitemap and list the URLs it contains.
