tdmcp — TouchDesigner MCP server for Claude Code: build node networks
tdmcp lets an AI assistant build TouchDesigner node networks from plain-language requests, check them, and return a preview. Use it to turn a visual idea into a working project network.
claude mcp add --env TDMCP_TOOL_PROFILE=<TDMCP_TOOL_PROFILE> --env TDMCP_RAW_PYTHON=<TDMCP_RAW_PYTHON> --transport stdio tdmcp-touchdesigner-mcp-server -- npx -y @dpantani/tdmcpWhat tdmcp — TouchDesigner MCP server does
tdmcp connects an AI assistant to a TouchDesigner project. Its server supplies tools and embedded reference material on operators, Python classes, workflows, and GLSL. A bridge running inside TouchDesigner creates and links nodes; the server then checks the network and produces a preview. Generated layouts are arranged from left to right.
You need TouchDesigner and an MCP-capable assistant. Run the server with npx -y @dpantani/tdmcp, then enable the bridge in TouchDesigner, for instance by dropping tdmcp_bridge_package.tox into /project1 and clicking **Install**. The bridge must be running for the assistant to control the project. Building from source requires Node.js 20+.
What it helps with
- build a TouchDesigner node network from a written description
- check a generated network for errors
- preview a visual system in the project
- create and connect nodes in
/project1
Example prompts for the agent
- Build a noise-based feedback tunnel in TouchDesigner, add blur and displacement, then send it to a window with bloom.
- Add a feedback trail to the visual and send it fullscreen.
