SuperCompress — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
SuperCompress trims context against the agent’s question before it reaches the model. Use it when a coding task brings in bulky files, logs, or tool output.
claude mcp add --transport http supercompress https://api.supercompress.dev/api/mcpWhat SuperCompress does
SuperCompress scores supplied context against the current question and keeps passages that matter to the answer. The question itself stays unchanged. Agents access compression through MCP and hooks; available tools include compress_context and a check for remaining provider limits.
The npm setup requires Node.js 18+. Run supercompress setup to link an account and add MCP and hooks for detected agents, then restart the agent to reload them. Context is sent to the SuperCompress API for processing, so that route matters when working with sensitive material. Provider API keys remain with the agent. An optional local proxy can be enabled with supercompress setup --proxy.
What it helps with
- trim large files to match a question
- remove irrelevant lines from logs and tool output
- check remaining provider quota
- review account usage and token savings
Example prompts for the agent
- Compress these logs around the question of what caused the error.
- Keep only the tool output that helps answer my question.
- Check the provider quota before taking the next step.
