What Steam Trends API does

The server gives an agent access to Steam data through Trends API. Ask for a game's monthly history, compare growth across periods, or retrieve the current most-played list. Game lookup uses its display name rather than an AppID.

Historical values are an index from 0 to 100 relative to that title, not raw player counts. The series is monthly, so it does not show day-by-day CCU changes. In Claude Code, add the server with claude mcp add --transport http steam-trends-api https://steam.api.trendsapi.ai/mcp.

What it helps with

  • check a game's monthly Steam trend history
  • compare trend growth across selected periods
  • retrieve the current most-played games
  • look up a game by name instead of AppID

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show the monthly Steam trend history for Counter-Strike 2.
  • Compare Counter-Strike 2 trend growth over 3M and 12M.
  • Which games are currently on Steam's most-played list?
