seristack — Claude Code MCP server: YAML stacks as tools
Turns shell command chains described in YAML into MCP tools, HTTP endpoints and CLI runs. Handy when a runbook or CI job has to be handed to an agent.
Open on GitHubWhat seristack does
Seristack is a Go automation engine. You describe command stacks in one YAML file, and it either runs them locally, serves them over HTTP, or publishes them to agents as MCP tools. Stacks can go one after another or in parallel, repeat a set number of times, depend on each other and pass results along.
Variables get substituted with allow and deny rules, each stack can carry its own timeout and working directory, and runs land in structured JSON logs. Shells supported are mvdan shell, Bash, sh and PowerShell. Individual stacks can be locked down by matching identity headers that an authenticated proxy forwards.
Since it executes shell commands, exposing it straight to the internet is a bad idea. The docs suggest binding it to 127.0.0.1 behind nginx or Caddy, letting the proxy handle TLS, authentication and rate limiting. A remote MCP setup follows the same shape, with oauth2-proxy and OIDC in front of 127.0.0.1:8081.
What it helps with
- run the same runbook from a terminal and from an IDE
- give an agent shell access without copy-pasting commands
- chain commands with dependencies and a shared result
- gate a stack on groups and roles from request headers
- keep a JSON audit trail of what ran
Example prompts for the agent
- Trigger the
system-healthstack fromconfig.yaml - List the MCP tools seristack exposes
- Run the
deploy-productionstack and give me its output

Questions about seristack
How do I install seristack in Claude Code?
There is no install command for Claude. Install the binary itself: on macOS and Linux use brew install TechXploreLabs/tap/seristack, on Linux you can also run curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TechXploreLabs/seristack/main/install.sh | bash, and on Windows irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TechXploreLabs/seristack/main/install.ps1 | iex. Then start it with seristack mcp -t streamableHTTP and point your IDE at it.
What does seristack do?
It reads a YAML file of shell command stacks and can run them from the CLI, serve them as HTTP endpoints, or expose them as MCP tools for agents and IDE integrations.
Can seristack be exposed to the public internet?
No. It runs shell commands, so the docs recommend keeping it on 127.0.0.1 and putting a reverse proxy with TLS and authentication in front.
