SerialHunt — Claude Code MCP server for US bill serials
SerialHunt checks US banknote serials against production figures and identifies collectible digit patterns. Use it to investigate a bill's rarity and star-note print run.
claude mcp add --transport http serialhunt https://bigballi.com/SerialHunt/mcpWhat SerialHunt does
SerialHunt examines a US banknote's serial number to identify its Federal Reserve Bank, determine the series when possible, and match the digits against collectible patterns with their odds. For star notes, it also reports the associated print run, the number of notes produced, and a rarity category. Its production figures draw on Bureau of Engraving and Printing reports and the uspapermoney.info archive for series 1963 through 2017A. The figures are refreshed weekly.
The MCP server exposes four read-only tools. check_serial examines an individual note, find_star_runs searches for star-note runs with the lowest recorded print counts, list_serial_patterns defines the collectible digit patterns, and get_coverage reports the available series and update information. No account is required. SerialHunt deliberately leaves price estimates and authenticity checks out of its results.
Claude Code can connect directly to the server or use the plugin, which also supplies the paper-money-serials skill. Other compatible clients can connect over Streamable HTTP without credentials. The server receives tool names and arguments, such as a serial number and denomination, but does not retain them or access the surrounding conversation.
What it helps with
- Check how rare a US bill's serial number is
- Identify collectible digit patterns and their odds
- Find star-note issues with the smallest print runs
- Check which denominations and series the figures cover
Example prompts for the agent
- Check the serial A 032 12345 ★ on a $1 bill from series 2017A and explain its rarity.
- Determine whether MB 123 45678 C on a $20 bill matches a collectible serial pattern.
- Find the $2 star-note runs with the lowest print counts.
