What Robinhood Crypto does

Robinhood Crypto connects an AI agent to Robinhood’s official Crypto Trading API. It can read quotes, holdings, and orders, calculate FIFO cost basis and realized P&L, keep a trade journal, and apply risk controls. Trading tools are separated from the read-only data server.

Setup uses ROBINHOOD_CRYPTO_API_KEY and ROBINHOOD_CRYPTO_PRIVATE_KEY; the configuration also accepts ROBINHOOD_CRYPTO_API_VERSION and ROBINHOOD_CRYPTO_BASE_URL. The server is started with npx -y robinhood-mcp. Trading requires ROBINHOOD_CRYPTO_ENABLE_TRADING=1, while guarded mode asks for confirm: true before an order is placed.

Robinhood provides no sandbox or paper account, so an order sent through this server uses real money in a real brokerage account. The package includes order caps, an optional symbol allowlist, buy-only mode, and a kill switch that pauses execution.

What it helps with

  • read Robinhood Crypto quotes and holdings
  • inspect existing crypto orders
  • calculate FIFO cost basis and realized P&L
  • record trades in a journal
  • place orders behind risk limits

Example prompts for the agent

  • Show the current BTC-USD quote and my Robinhood holdings.
  • Calculate FIFO cost basis and realized P&L for my trades.
  • Prepare an ETH-USD buy order and return the request for confirmation.
