FXMacroData — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
Streams macroeconomic time series, forex spot prices, COT positioning, and economic calendars straight to your AI agent. Useful for market research and trading models.
claude mcp add --transport http fxmacrodata https://fxmacrodata.com/mcpWhat FXMacroData does
This MCP server connects your development environment to https://fxmacrodata.com/mcp over HTTP. It supplies 97 distinct macroeconomic indicators across 656 endpoints, including inflation figures, policy interest rates, GDP values, and sovereign bond yields. It also provides prices for commodities like gold, silver, and platinum.
For currency markets, the server returns spot quotes alongside common technical indicators: SMA, RSI, MACD, and Bollinger Bands. Assistants can also inspect CFTC Commitment of Traders reports and upcoming economic event schedules directly inside chat sessions.
Without an active subscription key, the service restricts queries to public USD statistics from the past 90 days. Non-USD indicators, complete historical archives, COT metrics, and commodity series require an authorized account. The default request timeout is 30 seconds.
What it helps with
- fetch central bank rates and inflation statistics
- calculate technical indicators like RSI and MACD for currency pairs
- track CFTC Commitment of Traders positioning
- check upcoming macroeconomic calendar releases
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch recent US inflation numbers and policy rate decisions for the past two months.
- Get EUR/USD spot prices alongside 20-period SMA and 14-period RSI.
- Look up the upcoming economic release calendar for USD this week.
