ReplyNodes — Claude Code MCP server: what it does, how to install
A single remote MCP endpoint that gives your agent web scraping, search and research across Reddit, YouTube, app stores and Hacker News.
claude mcp add --transport http replynodes https://mcp.replynodes.com/mcpWhat ReplyNodes does
Point an agent at https://mcp.replynodes.com/mcp and it can pull pages down as clean Markdown, run web searches, crawl within one domain and map a site's URLs. Other tool families cover public brand profiles and their fonts, posts and comments from Reddit and Hacker News, YouTube videos with channels and transcripts, and listings in the App Store and Google Play.
Two ways in. Clients that speak remote MCP natively connect to the URL and finish Better Auth OAuth: issuer https://auth.replynodes.com, scope mcp:read. Unattended setups need a ReplyNodes key starting with rn_test_* or rn_live_*, read from REPLYNODES_API_KEY and sent as a Bearer credential. The @replynodes/mcp package is a transport bridge over npx. It ships no tools of its own and posts nothing to social networks.
The tool list is not fixed. Whatever tools/list returns from the live endpoint is what exists, including authorised calls such as monitor_create and monitor_update. Names and schemas move, so check that list instead of trusting a written inventory. Keep the key out of URLs, shell arguments and committed config — the stdio bridge reads it from the environment at startup and has nothing to send without it.
What it helps with
- turn a web page into clean Markdown
- map a site's URLs before crawling it
- find brand mentions on Reddit and Hacker News
- pull YouTube transcripts and comments
- check app reviews and ratings in the stores
Example prompts for the agent
- Fetch that page as Markdown and write it to
page.md - Map this domain's URLs and show me where the blog posts live
- Search Reddit for recent threads about our brand and list the recurring complaints

Questions about ReplyNodes
How do I install ReplyNodes in Claude Code?
Run claude mcp add --transport http replynodes https://mcp.replynodes.com/mcp, then complete the OAuth sign-in with scope mcp:read.
What does ReplyNodes do?
It exposes public data to an agent: web pages, search, brands, Reddit, YouTube, App Store, Google Play and Hacker News, plus authenticated monitor operations.
Do I need an API key?
Interactive clients can use OAuth. Headless clients need an rn_test_* or rn_live_* key in REPLYNODES_API_KEY, since the stdio bridge reads it at startup.
