mcp · gmapsscraper — Claude Code MCP server for Google Maps data
Search Google Maps for businesses and retrieve their details through an MCP client. Use it to gather contact information and ratings for a location or category.
claude mcp add mcp -e GMAPSSCRAPER_API_KEY=<GMAPSSCRAPER_API_KEY> -- npx -y @gmapsscraper/mcpWhat mcp does
The server offers tools to search for businesses, start a background job, and fetch its results later. Returned fields can include a business name, address, phone, email, website, rating, review count, category, and coordinates. Another tool checks the remaining credit balance.
You need Node.js 18 or later and a GMAPSSCRAPER_API_KEY. The server runs locally over stdio and sends requests to the gmapsscraper.io API. A search uses 2 credits; adding multiple keywords to one call costs the same as a single keyword. Each response is capped at 100 businesses, while the full CSV is available through the dashboard.
What it helps with
- find businesses by category and location
- collect phone numbers and emails from Google Maps listings
- start a search job and retrieve its results later
- check the remaining gmapsscraper credits
Example prompts for the agent
- Find coffee shops in Austin and collect their addresses, phone numbers, and emails.
- Start a search for wedding photographers in Denver; I’ll ask for the results later.
- Check how many gmapsscraper credits remain.
