reMarkable MCP Server — Claude Code MCP server: how to install
Connects reMarkable paper tablets to AI clients via MCP. Reads notes, runs OCR on handwritten pages, renders notebooks to images, and uploads Markdown as PDF.
claude mcp add remarkable -e REMARKABLE_TOKEN=<REMARKABLE_TOKEN> -- uvx remarkable-mcpWhat reMarkable MCP Server does
This server bridges MCP clients with your reMarkable library. The connected model can browse folders, filter documents by tags, extract highlights from EPUB or PDF files, and export pages as Markdown. PyMuPDF handles page rasterization directly to PNG or SVG, avoiding external Cairo or browser dependencies. OCR for handwritten entries runs through Tesseract or Google Vision.
Four connection modes exist: USB web, local desktop app folder, cloud sync, and SSH. Note that local directory mode operates strictly read-only, while cloud access requires a paid Connect subscription. You only need uv installed locally to execute the server via uvx.
What it helps with
- run OCR on handwritten notes using Google Vision or Tesseract
- search tablet documents by tags and extracted text
- render notebook pages into PNG or SVG images
- compile Markdown files into PDF format and upload them to the tablet
Example prompts for the agent
- Find my reMarkable notes tagged with #project and summarize the extracted text
- Run OCR on page 3 of my recent notebook and output the text
- Render this Markdown summary as a PDF and upload it to my tablet
