RelayMCP — Claude Code MCP server: features and setup
RelayMCP links your personal WhatsApp to an AI coding assistant so it can retrieve chat details, schedule reminders, and prepare replies to contacts.
Open on GitHubWhat RelayMCP does
RelayMCP connects a personal WhatsApp account to AI clients through the Model Context Protocol. An agent can look up contacts and messages, retrieve conversation context, summarize discussions, and draft replies. It can also create reminders and schedule follow-ups. Voice notes can be transcribed, while incoming images and documents can be inspected by the assistant.
To connect, scan the QR code in WhatsApp's Linked devices section, then register your individual RelayMCP endpoint as a remote MCP server. Communication uses Streamable HTTP, with OAuth 2.1 or bearer API-key authentication. The server exposes tools for chat and contact lookup, message handling, media access, and reminders. Existing chat history is not imported during linking.
Privacy controls let you block specific chats. Their incoming messages are discarded rather than stored or exposed to the AI, and previously retained data for those chats is erased. Messages are automatically deleted after 72 hours unless you adjust retention. Outgoing messages are sent individually, with a quiet period from 9 PM to 9 AM in the recipient's local time. RelayMCP is currently running an invite-only private pilot.
What it helps with
- Retrieve a meeting time mentioned in a WhatsApp conversation
- Summarize chat decisions and outstanding questions
- Schedule a reminder to call a contact
- Prepare a follow-up when a supplier misses a confirmation deadline
- Transcribe a WhatsApp voice note
Example prompts for the agent

- Remind me tomorrow at 10 to call Rahul.
- If the supplier has not confirmed by Friday, draft a follow-up message.
